clirco farm facilities
This is the holding area where cows are gathered and is fed with roughage, soilage, concentrate, malt, banana peeling and or silage. Feeding mainly depends on what the management or owner wants for his herd. When the cows have eaten and the time for milking is at hand, the dams(lactating cows), are made to move to the milking parlor for milk extraction.
Lactating cows entering the milking parlor. From the holding area, cows go directly to the milking parlor passing through the chute when the gates are opened. They want to go there as soon as possible to have their milk extracted so that they would feel relieved.
this is the milking parlor. sir cookie is making sure the cows are well and that no stanchion is left unoccupied. This is a small herringbone type milking parlor with a maximum capacity of 10 cows aside. Cows here are milked by means of a bucket type milking machine although sometimes, when electricity is down, we resort to hand milking specifically just for the calves as this process is more prone to bacterial contamination.
